Dr. Vinita Chittoor is a neuroscientist with 11+ years’ experience in neurodegenerative diseases and aging, who has joined the Prusiner Lab as an Assistant Adjunct Professor. Dr. Chittoor received her PhD in Neuroscience at University of Florida, and comes to us most recently from completing her postdoctoral work with Tom Montine at Stanford University.  During her postdoctoral training, she used novel techniques to detect the LRRK2 pathogenic signaling in Parkinson's Disease brains, opening up new avenues to investigate the underlying pathogenesis. Vinita works mainly with Jake Ayers supporting the IND’s mission by applying her expertise in neural cell biology and imaging for use in our drug discovery program.
