Julie Smeyers, PhD

Julie Smeyers received her PhD in neurosciences from Sorbonne Universite in 2020. She was a graduate student at the Paris Brain Institute under the supervision of Dr. Morwena Latouche and Dr. Isabelle Le Ber. Her work focused in studying the neuroinflammatory component in frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), two related neurodegenerative diseases.
Julie joined the Mordes Lab in 2022. At UCSF, her project is to unravel the implication of the selective autophagy pathway in FTD-ALS using human induced pluripotent stem cells models.
