On March 22nd, 2024 the IND DEI committee presented a film screening and panel discussion in celebration of Women's History Month. The PBS documentary Dolores details the life and work of labor union organizer and civil rights activist Dolores Huerta. Following the documentary, a panel comprised of women scientists spoke about their experiences as Women in STEM and shared ideas for how to foster greater gender inclusivity in scientific work environments.

On November 12th and 13th 2023, we hosted Carlos Hoyt, PhD + LCSW, to teach an introductory workshop titled "Demonstrating Inclusivity at the IND: Establishing Common Ground, Common Cause, and Our Course Forward." The DEI committee worked alongside Dr. Hoyt to design a custom workshop tailored to maximize the impact across the department and pave a pathway to support the department's continued growth and development.
