Sandeep N. Raikar, PhD
Assistant Adjunct Professor, Department of Neurology
Dr. Raikar received his master’s degree in chemistry from the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Learning, Puttaparthi, India, and then worked as a research associate for two years at Aurigene Discovery Technologies Limited. He received his PhD in synthetic organic chemistry under the mentorship of Prof. Helena Malinakova from the University of Kansas. In the Malinakova laboratory, Dr. Raikar studied sequential transition metal catalyzed reactions for the efficient and economical synthesis of drug-like molecules. As a postdoctoral scholar in the laboratory of Prof. Huw M.L. Davies at Emory University, he explored the utilization of C-H functionalization strategy toward enantioselective synthesis of (-)-ephedradine A and B.
Dr. Raikar joined the IND in June 2016 to develop small molecules that will solve unmet medical needs in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.
